A Painted Red

A Painted Red
By: Jessica L. Sklenar

Author’s note: This is a poem about a fictional character who feels scared and trapped; the truth to this is all she wants is someone to love her for who she really is. The reason why I am writing this piece is because, I want people to know that while life might come easy to some people, others have to earn their rights and the respect and love of their peers. I am also writing this piece to earn a proficient or advanced in point of view, this showcases point of view, due to the fact that I am writing this piece from this characters point of view. I hope that this piece of touches your heart as much as I have enjoyed telling this girls story.

A white face
A white wall
A Painted Red
That’s what people notice
When they look at me
A bowl of nothingness
A crying face
A heart of glass
A Painted Red
That’s all I am to thee
A hidden wish upon thy stars
For that’s what holds inside
A painted mask
Upon my face
A Painted Red
That is the wall I put forth
As you laugh at me and stare
I cry for in anguish
At the sight of my very fate
For the bully lies within you
That’s what I hate
I’ve loved you since the beginning
And will till the end
But the very fate of my world
Is nothing anyone would want to be in
A Painted Red
As the very substance spills from my eyes
Saltwater tears for fill thy heart
A piercing blade drags two hearts apart
Nothing but silence fills the room
A Painting Red
You finally care now
Thou must finally see
But it is too late my love
Now that this floor is filled
With a reddening anguish
Hearts a floating sorrow both are lost
And the world once again is nothing but
A painted red
